How to properly store and use single-use dental materials
Share
Disposable materials play a key role in the hygiene and safety of dental procedures. However, their effectiveness depends directly on how they are stored and used on a daily basis.
1. Store them in a clean, dry place
Materials must be protected from moisture, direct sunlight, and sudden changes in temperature. Ideally, there should be a separate, closed, and well-ventilated room for medical consumables.
2. Observe the expiration date
Each batch has a use-by date. Using materials after this date may reduce their effectiveness or compromise their sterility.
3. Use them only with clean hands.
Before removing the material from its packaging, wash your hands or put on gloves. This reduces the risk of cross-contamination.
4. Never reuse single-use materials.
Even if the product appears intact, it is intended for single use only. Reuse is prohibited by health standards.
5. Organize your stock according to the FIFO principle.
"First In, First Out": the materials that arrived first are used first. This prevents delays and reduces waste.
By following these simple rules, you will ensure patient safety and compliance with health standards in your practice.
